I have ever introduced many things of Antarctic. So I think that you have the knowledge. This week, I will introduce climate. Maybe, you know that Antarctic is very cold.So let's see it in more detail.
In most parts of the Antarctic, the average monthly temperature does not exceed 0 ℃ in the summer. Further, it is not only. Antarctica is very dry. The amount of rain is very low. Taking acount of it only, Antarctica is classified as desert!! I was surprised to listen to it.
As a matter of fact, Antarctica is colder than North Pole. There are some reasons.
First, Antarctica is a continent, and North Pole is not a continent. In Antarctic, there is a massive glacier on the ground. So Antarctic is high elevation. On the other hand, the North Pole has no land. So the North Pole is low elevation. In other words, Antactic is colder.
Second, air and ocean currents are involved. In the North Pole, by westerlies and jet stream, warm air flows. And warm airflow flow from Atlantic Ocean. Antarctica is easy to maintain the cold, and the North Pole is not easy to maintain the cold.
The lowest temperature ever recorded on the earth is -89.2 ℃. I can not imagine how cold this temperature is. Maybe, people can not live in this environment. On the other hand, the highest temperature ever recorded in Antarctica is at 14.6 ℃. This is unexpected. I don't think that it is high temperatures.
Next, I will introduce the ice covering the Antarctic. Almost all of Antarctica is covered by ice. By the way, in recent years, climate change is happening by global warming. So the surface temperature of the water, snow and ice, ground are rising in many parts of Antarctica. It is said that 90% of all the world's ice is present, and Antarctica has more than 70% of all the world's fresh water. If this ices melts, it will be a terrible situation.
The climate of Antarctica is the symbol of the Antarctic. The climate of Antarctica is important for Antarctica. That is why it is big thing to change the climate.

Movie
Hello!
This week, I will introduce the movies of Antarctic. You should have heard the movies. Some people may have seen the movie. I want to tell you the goodness of the movies. If you think that I want to see the movie, I am happy. Let's see a example!
First, I introduce "nankyoku monogatari". This story is drawn about two dogs. The two dogs were left behind in Antarctica. They survive and reunited with their owners. This is a story to be very impressed. If you see it, I think that you can know the severity of the Antarctic. And you can know ties of human and animal Please see it!!Second, I introduce "nankyoku ryourinin". This stroy is drawn about the life of Antarctic. This movie is best to know the life of Antarctic.
By the way, do you know "Alien VS Predator"? This movie is very famous. You should have know the movie. As a matter of fact, this movie is a stage Antarctica, too. I did not know it until now. I think that there is a reason for using the Antarctic. I think the reason is to give a magical atmosphere. In brief, Antarctic is myterious. I think that there is not mysterious place than Antarctica.

This week, I am going to introduce studies of Antarctic. In Antarctic, as you know, it is very cold. So Antarctica have a special environment. For this reason, I think that I want to introduce it. And the researcher can work on experiments that can not be imitated in other regions.
The study will be carried out in various fields. For example biology, geology, oceanography, physics, astronomy, science snow and ice, and meteorology.
In biology, Bad effects of human existence and the existence of wildlife in the frigid environment gives are studied. So adaptability of living creatures be noted. And medical scientists will focus on the impact on the spread of the virus and the human body under extreme ambient temperature.
In geology, study of plate tectonics and meteorites from outer space is carried out mainly. Geological Survey of Antarctica has been hampered by a thick layer of ice that never melts. However, by a new technology is introduced, sleeping under the ice structure began to clear.
So a result of the investigation, in Antarctic, researcher found that there are a lot of coal, oil, iron ore and gas fields.But we can not discover them by treaty.

Environmental Problems
This week, I will introduce the environment of the Antarctic. Antarctic landscape is very beautiful. However, there are a variety of environmental issues in Antarctica. Now, let's look at the environmental issues.
Currently, there is a place where the temperature has risen clearly in parts of Antarctica. This is the effects of global warming. Average temperature of the entire Antarctic continent has increased 0.05 ℃ from 1957 through 2006. It is seems that this temperature rise is expected to affect fatal Antarctic organisms adapted to the cold environment. Plankton is weak, such as changes in water temperature and salinity basically. Especially, a decrease in phytoplankton causes directly increasing the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere which is a greenhouse gas. This is likely to accelerate global warming. In addition, the Antarctic sea ice is reduced by global warming, so it is said also reduce the amount of Antarctic organisms. As a result, global warming may be a significant impact on the entire ecosystem of the Antarctic region.
By the way, do you know the ozone? A little ozone is present in the atmosphere. But the ozone absorbs most of the ultraviolet radiation emitted from the sun. So the ozone is responsible for almost no ultraviolet light to reach the ground.
Now, the ozone which plays an important role has decreased. So, there was ozone hole in Antarctic sky. This ozone is reduced, and the surface will be more ultraviolet light to reach many. The major effect is rough skin by exposure to ultraviolet and Skin cancer induced by ultraviolet light intensity. In this way, the ozone affect the health of human beings. This is not the only influence. By ultraviolet light, Antarctic ice melts. Thereby, increasing seawater. You will think that sea level rise is no problem. In fact, I thought so too. But it was not. For example, low islands sink. People who live on the island will not be able to live. And familiar as a matter of, there is a rise in the groundwater level. Thereby, in Tokyo, a situation occurs that underground is sinked and underpass is broken. In addition, in paddy fields near the coast, it will severe damage to rice.
