This week, I introduce animals antarctic. In Antarctic, there are many interesting animals. The animals living to endure cold of antarctic. They have a higher warm function than human. We will take a look at the ecology of such animals!

In Antarctica, penguins, blue whales, orcas, and seals are living.
I will first introduce the penguin. Penguin has been living on the base of land, can also swim. And, Penguin has been called the Antarctic seabird, but can not fly. Penguin is a carnivorous, and  prey such as fish and crustaceans, cephalopods. Natural enemies of penguins are leopard seals, killer whales, sharks. Emperor penguin of the largest species breed in Antarctica in winter to reach -60 ℃. For this reason, Penguin is said to be the world's most demanding parenting bird.

Blue whales are the largest extant species. And, even including dinosaurs and animals as long as they are confirmed once existed on the planet, Blue whales is the largest species in all known animal. It has been confirmed that of 34 m length! Whales mainly eat plankton, small fish and sardines. Very low at around 10 000 head in total, Bule whales has been designated as an endangered species. Orcas is a very active animal.Orcas  is one of the organisms that can swim speed range to 60-70km per hour, and is the fastest swimming animal in mammals. Orcas is carnivorous.Orcas located on the top of the food chain in the ocean and natural enemies in nature do not exist of excluding a man to use a weapon. Orca has a high intelligence. And, from the fact that many prey organisms, known as very fierce predators greedy.

Seals inhabit wide range of waters such asthe tropical from the Arctic to the Antarctic. Seals are generally eating fish and squid.Short hair is growing in the body of the seal, has been used as a fur. Seals are known to have a superior ability diving. There is a record that is northern elephant seal dive to 1,500 m. Seal has a feature adapted to diving. For example, can withstand high water pressure by discharging almost all air in the lungs and can close the nasal.

Geography

This week, I will introduce the geography of Antarctica. Last week, I introduced the history. I think you do not know much about Antarctica. So I wanted to let you know a little bit about the Antarctic to you. So I wanted to let you know a little bit about the Antarctic to you.

And Antarctica is a continent wide, which account for about one-twelfth of the Earth's land area!! However, in a large estate, there are few areas where you can live. There is a place in the Antarctic where the sun does not come out at all, or where the sun does not sink. History

In the history of the Antarctic, this time, I describe the discovery of the Antarctic. At first, What I want you to know is that many continents now were one continent 200 million years before. So it was divided gradually. An antarctic have very interesting history. A long times ago, an antarctic had been regarded as mysterious continent. And Antarctica was discovered in 1820. However, the discoverer of Antarctica has not decided.  I think that it is uncanny to explore the unknown ocean. Thanks to such an expedition, there is a map for now. I think we should be familiar with those people. Before Antarctica was discovered , Ship  by Captain Cook  was looking for. However, they approached to about 100 km, they were not able to find the end.   

But Captain Cook had guessed the presence of Antarctica. And I leave the word "land is located in the higher latitudes than 60 degrees south latitude, in the land of ice and snow covered with small barren, would pose no wealth for mankind". I think the imagination of people in the past is great. However, it was unexpected so late discovery of Antarctica. However, it was unexpected so late discovery of Antarctica. Why is it so late but there was the technology to cross the sea? The reason is the position of Antarctica. Antarctica is away from other continents and people can not live there. About 100 years since Antarctica  was discovered, Nimrod Expedition studied the Antarctica. Eric Marshall and Edgeworth David, Jameson Adams are member there. They are reflected in the photograph on the right. I think that they would not have thought that Antarctica is a place so cold and I wonder they survive in very cold environment. Also, I think their courage to go to a place unknown is great. Their quest is so much stronger. I want to emulate their courage and cherish the quest such as children. Currently, scientific observation has been made in the Antarctic.
By the way do you know the story that Antarctica might be the legendary continent "Atlantis"?  Atlantis is a legendary island that appeared in the books of the ancient Greek philosopher. Until now, it was believed that Atlantis is a fictional island. But on 10 September 2012, There was news that the huge ancient pyramid was discovered in the Antarctic. Why there was such a discovery now. The reason is global warming. The ice melts due to global warming, and the ground has been exposed. Aside the cause, history may vary greatly depending on this discovery. If Antarctica is Atlantis, it is news that surprised the world. You might see a similar discovery in the future, because there are many secrets in Antarctica. So I want to focus on the future history of  Antarctic that will become apparent.
